Moving.
Hey everyone,
Because no one can tell me who has administrative control of this blog, and Jeff has been locked out of his account after changing his e-mail last semester, we are migrating to a new location. It’s still hosted at wordpress.com, so you can still login and comment like you did in the past. Just change that bookmark in your browser. I’ll link back to this blog in a post there. The new blog will also maintain categories, so you can look up a topic. And I’ll have a page for the calendar of events as well, when we work that out. And there is an e-mail subscription, so you can receive notifications in your inbox when something is posted. Think of that as a newsletter of sorts, our primary way of keeping you updated on what is happening. Just make sure that it doesn’t end up in your junk mail. Anyways, see you over at http://wichitastateaiga.wordpress.com/.
Later.

WSU Student Group Officers 2010/11 School Year
Hello everyone,
Today we elected officers,
President – Benjamin Redington
Vice President – Rory Harms
Secretary – Roger Strunk &
Treasurer – Landon Barton.
We will have another meeting on July 1st @ noon in room 113. Please bring along any suggestions on events you’d like to attend, people you’d like to see or places you would like to go. As of right now we are planning a trip to Chicago or New York on Oct 13th/14th to Oct 17th. If you are wanting to go on local studio tours, if your wanting to see a demo on letterpress, whatever you want to know about that your interested in and just don’t know how to do it, bring those ideas with you.
Examples of work or areas students are interested in are:
Interactive Design / Motion / Web
Ad Agency / Copywriter-Designer Teams
Interior Design / Retail
Industrial Design / Packaging
Illustration / Logo Design
We are hoping for the July 1st meeting to names to attached to these areas. We understand there are great resource locally for some of theses, finding someone on a national level may benefit the Wichita area in bringing designers from other cities to hear them speak.
With the professional chapter getting their legs under them, we are hoping to bring different speakers and workshops to the area. Being a student member should give your discounted admission to these events. Half of your membership will be sent back to the Wichita Chapter which in turn should allow funding for the activities.
The student group is willing to look into any and everything you want to do. You will get as much as you put in, be active!
Thanks,
Benjamin
WSU AIGA Meeting – June 17th @ Noon
Hello Everyone,
I’m sorry for the last minute message getting sent out. I am setting up a meeting on Thursday, June 17th at noon in room 113b. During this meeting we would discuss officers and vote, setup a schedule during the summer to plan fall activities, as well as get suggestions on what you would want to do over the remainder of the summer / fall. We are also needing to get a final count and fees for joining the AIGA. If we have 20 members the total will be $50 which most have already paid.
Please feel free to nominate a candidate for the following:
President (Senior)
Vice-President (Junior)
Secretary
Treasurer
(I think those are all the positions.)
If your unable to make it please email me back and let me know if you would like to be active in the WSU AIGA Student chapter.
Thanks,
Benjamin C Redington

Some suggestions I received for KC tours.
Here are some ideas I received. Thoughts? Additional suggestions?
Reactor Design Studio
(Kansas City, MO)
C3 Brand Marketing
http://www.c3brandmarketing.com/
(Overland Park, KS)
Indicia Design
(Kansas City, MO)
And the option of stopping in Lawrence was brought up, although I think it best that we keep everything in KC so we can hit as many studios as possible. Our day begins at 10:00 am at Willoughby. Design Ranch will have to be later in the day, after 1:30 in the afternoon.
KC Trip Update #2
Looks like Hammerpress no longer gives tours, and Hallmark won’t be able to accommodate us either. So those are out. We’ll need to discuss new options at the meeting this week, because two tours won’t fill up a day.
KC Trip Update #1
All of the Kansas City Star Press Pavilion Tours on the 5th of March appear to be booked already… so it’s off the list. And we’ve got responses from Willoughby Design and Design Ranch so far, who have both approved the date and await my approval for times.
